Dr. habil. Susanne Koch is a Senior Post-doc at the Sociology of Science Chair of the Department of Science, Technology and Society at Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Germany, where she leads the In-Forest project as Principal Investigator.
Her interdisciplinary research at the nexus of sociology of science and environmental governance research focuses on knowledge diversity and expertise in the context of socio-ecological transformation, as well as inequalities and epistemic implications in science. In recent years, her work has focused on three key topics: (1) knowledge relations and power dynamics in environmental sciences and multi-level landscape governance; (2) science policy interfaces and research collaborations for transformative change; (3) (in-) equality and inclusion in transformative science and socio-ecological transitions.
Susanne has gained a PhD in sociology with distinction at Bielefeld University, Germany, in 2015, and a habilitation in sociology at TUM in 2024. From 2016-2021 she worked as post-doc at the TUM Chair of Forest and Environmental Policy. In 2021, she performed a guest scholarship at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (Leiden University) funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
She is an appointed Research Fellow of the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST) at Stellenbosch University (South Africa), and Research Affiliate of the Global Research Programme on Inequality (GRIP) hosted by the University of Bergen (Norway) and the International Science Council (ISC).
