Their talk entitled “Exploring inequalities in science through a multi-method study of forest research” consisted of two parts: After a brief introduction of the project’s overall aim and approach, Boshoff presented selected findings from bibliometric analyses of global forest science, and a comparative study on the representation and thematic focus of Tanzanian forest research in different databases. In the second part, Koch presented insights from the qualitative study of African-European research projects on forests, highlighting how scholars’ habitus leads to discrepancies between desired forms of collaboration and actual collaboration practice.
