Joint Research Meeting at CWTS, Leiden

October 30, 2023

For the two days leading up to the 27th International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (STI-ENID 2023), the In-Forest project members convened at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University for a joint research meeting.

During this second face-to-face meeting, with two colleagues joining online from Tanzania and Germany, we shared progress on research going on in the different work packages, discussed theoretical framings and methodological aspects and planned for the next steps. Moreover, we fine-tuned a manuscript presenting bibliometric analyses of global forest science that we seek to publish in the coming year. By gathering in the same space, we were able to address, question, and improve details of the bibliometric and qualitative approaches through the lenses of our different disciplinary perspectives. At the same time, such epistemic discussions led us to reflect on our own ways of collaboration practice.

We also used the two-day joint meeting to finalise preparations for a Special Session at the STI 2023 conference organised with colleagues to discuss how to research (in-) equity, diversity and inclusion in science through bibliometric, mixed- and multi-method studies.
